Starting from the historic La Ascensión homestead, we embark on this horseback adventure through the Patagonian steppe. We ride among coirones, neneos, and paramelas, feeling the wind and the wild scents of the open fields. We circle wide valleys where you might spot native wildlife like guanacos, red foxes, or piches, while birds of prey sometimes perch among the calafates and molles.
The journey takes us uphill through duraznillos and evergreens as we approach the impressive Cerro La Calle. Here, we leave the horses behind for a short trek to the ridge at 750 meters above sea level. From the summit, the landscape unfolds majestically: the valley of Patagonia National Park, Lake Buenos Aires, and the vastness that defines this region.
Afterward, we head back to the main ranch house, leave the horses at the corral, and move over to La Cantina—a cozy refuge featuring a beautiful fire pit, located just a few steps from the historic shearing shed. There, we settle in to enjoy a delicious homemade packed lunch accompanied by a refreshing drink, all in the perfect setting to relax and share stories from the end of our journey.
